Machines Investigation

During long walks in early fall, Purple Room children became interested in the street sweepers and garbage trucks they saw around our neighborhood. Their questions led us to an investigation of machines: their parts, how they work, and what's inside them. Over the course of the investigation, children looked at and built simple machines, embodied machinery through movement, and designed fantastical machines to solve problems in their lives. Take a look in our "Representation" gallery section to see children's drawings of their machines!
