Houses and Forests Investigation

Early in the fall, teachers observed Blue Room children basing much of their play around houses and home life. Their play led to an investigation that first centered on the question: "What makes a house?" Through group discussion, story writing, and the construction of their own model homes, they were further inspired by the outside world, and the investigation evolved to include the creation of a classroom forest. Their work often took on themes of safety vs. danger and the known (homes) vs. the unknown (the forest).
