summer camp

Each summer RHP runs a six-week, theme-based program in July and August, 5 days a week, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. We focus on several different themes related to art and outdoor learning while integrating movement and music into our daily routines. In years past, campers have explored photography, gardening, cooking, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. Families receive detailed information about RHP’s upcoming summer program in the spring.

General Information:

During summer camp, our Director Tara Canty will be your first point of contact. Please email her at taracanty@redhookplaygroup.org with questions, information about drop-offs or absences, and anything else that may come up.

Drop off is between 8:30 - 8:45 am each morning and pick up is from 3:15 - 3:30 pm. Since we aim to spend as much time as possible outside every day, please drop off by 8:45 am so we can promptly head out and beat the heat. Be sure to apply sunscreen and bug spray for your child before dropping them off, since we'll be going outside shortly after they arrive. We will reapply when needed!

Camp Essentials:

Please send children to camp with

  • A packed, labeled lunchbox and separate labeled snack container: Due to severe allergies, RHP is a nut-free & sesame-free school! Please also label lunch items that can be mistaken for containing any nut or sesame products as “nut free.”

  • A backpack containing:

    • Water bottle

    • Ziploc bag with their labeled sunscreen and insect repellent

    • Towel and swimsuit: Please send your child to school in their swimsuit every day for water play at the playground. Rash guard clothing for sun protection and quick drying shoes are also recommended. Please send an extra set daily for children to change into after the playground.

  • An additional extra set of clothing to be kept in your child’s cubby. Please replenish if this spare set is used!

  • A crib-sized sheet and small blanket.
